Falcons Back On The Court Saturday As They Travel to Frostburg State.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (1-3 1-3 MEC) will head Southeast to take on the Bobcats of Frostburg State on Saturday. The game is slated to tip at 4:30 PM from Bobcat Arena. You can catch all the action both on the MECTV portal and on the livestats link at NotreDameFalcons.com

NDC is back in action after Wednesday's game with Fairmont State was postponed.

Jordan Roland talked about this being a big game for NDC:

" It's a big game for us, as we are trying to build off of our first win. A big key to this game will be transition defense, "Roland mentioned.

Coach Mark Richmond talked about taking advantage of the extra practice time:

" We have taken full advantage of the extra practice time. The guys have had a good approach. This year is a different year, usually by January you kind of are who you are, but I feel like this year and with this team we have a ton of room to grow. We are looking to improve this next 6-8 weeks, or as long as this season goes. The more we play, the more we get to practice. We will be ready to go, and put that product out there on Saturday, "Richmond explained.

The last time NDC played was a 75-69 win over Wheeling on Monday. Jordan Burton led the Falcons with 19- Tyland Crawford added 16- Jordan Roland stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds- while John Godinez tallied 10.

As a team the Falcons shot 45 percent in that contest, 32 percent (7-22) from the 3-point line, and 77 percent (10-13) from the free throw line. The game featured 12 ties and eight lead changes, while the Falcons were +17 on the boards.

Richmond talked about rebounding being a key again in this one:

" Frostburg has been handled on the glass a couple times this season. First the game against West Liberty, and then most recently against AB (Alderson Broaddus.) We need to go get the ball, and hold them to one shot each time."

Roland paces the season box score averaging 17.5 points per game, he also is grabbing 5.3 rebounds, and dishing out 3.3 assists per contest. Burton is scoring 15.8 per night, while Crawford is scoring 13.8 per game, and also grabs 5.3 rebounds per contest. Mike Sampson is also getting 5.3 rebounds per night.

NDC is scoring 74.3 points per game, while they allow 85.8 per night. They are out rebounding the opponent by 1.5 boards per contest.

Richmond spoke about what he is looking for offensively Saturday:

"We need to continue to share the ball. We did a better job of that in the last game led by Roland. We need to know when, and where to pass the ball, and to just make the simple play. Sometimes it is simple as moving it. Making that extra dribble or that extra pass, to get a great shot instead of a good one."

Frostburg State (1-3 1-3 MEC) is coming off a 90-76 loss to Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday. Agyei Edwards paced the Bobcats with 27 points, while Jihar Williams scored 13. They shot 41 percent from the filed- 26 percent from the 3-point line (5-19-) and- 79 percent (15-19) at the free throw line. They were out rebounded 50-38 in that contest, and had seven assists to go along with 15 turnovers.

As a team ,the Bobcats are averaging 82.3 points per game, while they are allowing 102.3 points per contest. Individually, Edwards leads the team, and the MEC at 26 points per night, Canaan Bartley is netting 16 per contest, and Williams is putting up 11 per game.

Richmond talked about the defensive end for NDC:

" We need ita to be a group effort defensively. A big key will be getting back in transition. They are going to want to run, and shoot it quickly. We obviously need to do a good job on the ball as they will hurt you late in the shot clock if you don't. The other four guys will need to help as well. We need to protect the rim, close out under control, and contest shots. Then we need to go get the ball off the misses."

The two teams met twice last season, each winning on it's home floor. Frostburg winning 72-69 at home, while NDC was a 77-68 winner in the second matchup.
