Updated: Jan 12, 2019

The Notre Dame College Falcons coming off there best performance of the season on Thursday night will take on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats at 4 PM inside Murphy Gym. As always you can catch all the action on NotreDameFalcons.com

NDC (9-4 5-2 MEC) is coming off a 109-81 thrashing of Glenville State on Thursday night. Drew Scarberry and Will Vorhees each scored 23 to lead the Falcons in the victory. Vorhees also grabbed 13 rebounds- while Scarberry knocked down seven 3-pointer's in the win. Halil Parks (12-) along with Bruce Hodges (10-) and- Isaiah Sanders (10) scored in double figures as well. The Falcons shot 56 percent as a team- 36 percent from the 3-point line and 78 percent (7-9) from the free throw line. NDC also won the rebounding battle 43-40.

As Coach Tim Koenig explained this team has not handled success well this year:

" We have had a lot more success than not this season but when we have had success we have not handled it well. We need to work our tails off as a team everyday. One thing I will say though is I am a lot more confident in this group and especially the leaders on this team today than I was in November. This team has really matured in the last couple months." Koenig said."

Hodges agreed and talked about what has to happen Saturday:

" We have to keep up with what we finished with. We can't let success make us to happy. We have to come out and be ready to play from the jump - we need to play another complete 40 minute game.

Vorhees leads the season box score for NDC scoring 23.6 points and grabbing 11.1 rebonds per contest. Larenz Thurman comes in scoring 17.6 points a game and dishing out a team leading five assists per contest. Isaiah Sanders (12.9 ppg-) and- Halil Parks (11.6 per contest) also average double figures on the season. On the offensive end the Falcons are averaging 84.8 points a game- coming off a season high 109 versus Glenville State on Thursday. On the defensive end they allow 78.4 points per contest. The Falcons are +1 on the boards for the season.

Sanders explained how they need to make the Wesleyan zone shift:

" We have to make there defense shift and we have to hit the gaps when available. Making open shots is a big thing." Sanders explained."

Koenig agreed:

" We need to get out on there shooters. Brondstedt is one of the best shooters in the league. We can not let him shoot with his feet set. We need to make him dribble. They are a very long, athletic team. They are skilled and very methodical. They have really smart players with a really high basketball IQ. Petrovic is there PG but he will play in the post. They are a really good, really skilled team. The biggest key tomorrow may be we need to pound the glass."

On building on the shooting from Scarberry:

"Drew will get his shots. We will find him. He did on Thursday night what we have been expecting from him all year. We were finding him before when he was not making shots. The shot selection as I mentioned after the last game for Drew and the whole team was the best it has been all year."

Koenig talked about what he expects tomorrow:

" Wesleyan is a really good team but I expect our guys to play with enthusiasm. You are seeing the confidence of this team grow as the season progresses. As I said earlier we will work our tails off everyday."

Wesleyan (6-7 3-4 MEC) is coming off a 79-69 win over Urbana last time out. Brondstedt and Petrovic led the way with 15 points each in the contest. Dusan Vicentic (14-) and- Clay Todd (12) also scored in double figures in the win. The leading Bobcat scorer is Vicentic at 15.4 points per game- Todd averages 14.4 per night- and- Petrovic puts up 10.8 per night.
