Falcons Close Conference Challenge Against Cal (Pa) Saturday

The Notre Dame College Falcons fresh off a 77-75 win over Slippery Rock Friday night will be right back at it Saturday when they take on the Vulcans of Cal (Pa) to finish the Conference Challenge on the campus of Fairmont State University. Tip time is set for 6 PM and you can catch the video on:

NDC was led by a 29 point- 14 rebound effort by Will Vorhees that included the game winner. Angelo Cugini posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds- while Isaiah Sanders tallied 16 points in his first collegiate game.

NDC shot 55 percent as a team, including shooting 65 percent in the second half. They shot 46 percent (6-13) from the 3-point line- and- 63 percent (15-24) from the free throw line. The Falcons had 10 assists and 16 turnovers as a team. They won the rebounding battle 40-34.

Cal (Pa) 0-1 comes in 0-1 on the season. They were a 86-70 loser to host Fairmont State Friday. The Vulcans had three players in double figures led by 20 points from Jermaine Hill. Zyan Collins netted 18- while Brent Pegram chipped in 15. The Vulcans shot 48 percent from the floor- 29 percent (6-21) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (2-4) at the free throw line. The Vulcans were out rebounded 30-22.

Coach Tim Koenig talked about Cal (Pa) and the scouting report:

" They are going to play a lot of zone. Pegram is the main guy for Cal (Pa.) He is a transfer from Wheeling. Don't get me wrong they have other guys but Pegram is the main guy and he can play."

As far as what we expect from our team:

" We need to execute better and take care of the basketball. Today is a new day and our goal is always to go 1-0."
