Falcons Fall To CSU Sunday.

Playing in a second game in as many days the Notre Dame College Falcons fell to Cleveland State 77-56 at the Wolstein Center. With the win the Vikings improved to 4-7. The game was an exhibition contest for NDC so there record remains at 7-3 and 4-2 in the MEC.

Will Vorhees led the Falcons with 25 points and eight rebounds in the contest. He was one of two players to score in double figures for NDC. Larenz Thurman netted 11 points- grabbed four rebounds- and- dished out four assists. The Falcons shot 41 percent as a team- 25 percent (5-20) from the 3-point line- and- 60 percent (3-5) at the free throw line. NDC had eight assists and 18 turnovers in the contest.

Cleveland State had four players score in double figures on the afternoon. Stefan Kenic led the way with 18 points- while Tyree Appleby- Kasheem Thomas- and- Rashaad Williams chipped in 12 points each. CSU shot 40 percent from the field- 35 percent (13-37) from the 3-point line- and- 67 percent (12-18) from the free throw line. The Vikings edged NDC 40-38 on the glass. They had 20 assists and nine turnovers.

The game was evenly played in the early going. It would be 11-9 CSU eight minutes in. The game would be knotted at 21 at the 4:30 mark of the opening half. Then CSU would go on a 13-0 run and take a 34-23 lead at the half. Vorhees was the only Falcon in double figures with 11 in the first stanza. In the first 20 minutes NDC shot 37 percent from the field- 22 percent (2-9) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (1-2) from the free throw line. NDC had four assists and nine turnovers in the first half.

Cleveland State was led by Williams with 10 points in the first half- while Kenic added eight.. The Vikings shot 39 percent from the field- 38 percent (6-16) from the 3-point line- and- 67 percent (4-6) at the free throw line. CSU led 22-16 on the boards. They had eight assists and eight turnovers in the opening half.

The Falcons kept the lead at 10 (39-29) after the first media timeout of the second half. NDC would get a four point play by Drew Scarberry to cut the CSU lead to seven at the 10:45 mark.. CSU would then stretch the lead to 14 (59-45) at the 7:56 mark. That is as close as the Falcons would get the rest of the way as CSU would secure the 77-56 win.

Vorhees talked about the contest:

" We were testing a lot of different lineups today. Guys were fatigued after the recent stretch of games."

Thurman talked about the experience of today:

" It was good to compete against a D1 team to see where we stood as a team and we did a pretty good job for most of the game. We ran more zone than man today and we had some success with it. We knew it was going to be a tough game today, especially after the game yesterday. But we played a good game as a team."

Koenig talked about the game as well:

"We really competed. I am really proud of how far this team has come in such a short time. We will be better as a team after the experience that we gained from today."
