Falcons Jump Back Into MEC Play As They Travel To Maryland To Battle Frostburg State.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (7-4 4-2 MEC) jump back into MEC play as they take on the Frostburg State University Bobcats (5-7 1-5 MEC) at Bobcat Arena Wednesday. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM. You can catch all the action on the Mountain East Digital Network at MountainEast.TV

"We are looking forward to getting back into conference play at Frostburg State tomorrow night, "NDC Head Coach Mark Richmond mentioned."

Jaedon Willis gave his thoughts:

"We have to start fast and play with a sense of urgency to begin the game. If we do that for 40 minutes we should be fine,"Willis explained.

NDC is riding a four game win streak heading into 2023. The last time out the Falcons were a 94-56 winner over Mount Aloysius. All 14 NDC players who saw action scored in the contest. Willis led the way with 13 points, Andre Harris added 12, while Kaleb Torrence tallied 10. The Falcons shot 51.5 percent from the field, 34.5 percent (10-29) from the 3-point line, and 73.7 percent (14-19) at the free throw line. NDC dominated the glass out-rebounding the Mounties 45-33.

As a team the Falcons are scoring an MEC fifth best 83.5 points per game, while defensively they have been on a roll of late. They are the top team in the MEC in point allowed per game (73.4,) opponents field goal percentage (39.6,) and opponent 3-point percentage (28.7 percent.) NDC is fifth in the MEC shooting 46.2 percent from the field, are fourth in the MEC shooting 36.4 percent from the 3-point line. They shoot at a 72.1 percent clip from the free throw line which is fifth in the MEC. On the glass NDC is +2.4 (41.2-38.8) rebounds per night.

Willis leads the Falcons and is third in the MEC pouring in 20.2 points per game. He is joined in double figures by DeAirius Barker (10.0 points per game.) Barker,the Cincinnati native also leads the team in assists at three per game which is good for 16th in the MEC. Harris leads the team on the glass grabbing six rebounds per game. The Brush product nets 9.9 points per game as well.

Richmond talked about offense:

"Offensively, we have to continue to take care of the basketball and make the extra pass."



The Bobcats are coming off a 78-76 win over District of Columbia last time out. Jason Murphy led Frostburg with 20, Agiye Edwards added 18, and Tairell Fletcher notched 14. The Bobcats shot 54.4 percent from the field, 20 percent (1-5) from the 3-point line, and 62.5 percent (15-24) from the free throw line. As a team Frostburg averages an MEC ninth best 78.4 points per game while defensively they are 10th in the conference giving up 84 points per night. They shoot 44 percent from the field which is 11th in the conference and shoot 31.7 percent from the 3-point line which is 10th in the MEC. At the free throw line the Bobcats are shooting an MEC third best 72.3 percent for the season. On the glass the Bobcats are +0.5 (37.1-36.6) rebounds per contest.

Fletcher is second in the MEC and leads the Bobcats in scoring at 20.7 points per game. Jason Murphy is the reigning MEC Player Of The Week as he scores 14.8 points per game and grabs a team leading and MEC third best 8.1 rebounds per night. Edwards is also averaging double figures netting 14.5 points per game. Jaylin Albury leads Frostburg and is eighth in the MEC dishing out 3.6 assists per contest.

Richmond gave his thoughts about defending the Bobcats:

"They have three really talented players. We'll have to do a great job defensively on their two guards and then defend one of the bigger post players in our league."

Then Richmond gave the final thought:

"There are no easy road games in this league so we'll have play our best to give ourselves an opportunity to win."
