Falcons Set For Rematch With Concord.

The Notre Dame College Falcons and the Concord Mountain Lions will meet for the second time this season on Wednesday night at the Carter Center in Athens, West Virginia. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on the Mountain East Digital Network.

In the first meeting between the two teams NDC came away with a narrow 63-61 win at Murphy Gym on December 4th. Jaedon Willis led four Falcons in double figures with 16 points on the contest, Tyland Crawford netted 12, Daylin Lee tallied 11, and DeAirius Barker also reached double figures with 10. As a team the Falcons shot 40 percent from the field, 36 percent (8-22) from the 3-point line, and 65 percent (13-20) from the free throw line.

NDC Head Coach Mark Richmond talked about the rematch:

"Our guys are ready to bounce back on the road at Concord, "Richmond stated. "We will have to play well and compete at a high level to give ourselves a chance."

NDC (10-8 7-5 MEC) is coming off a 71-70 loss at Alderson Broaddus on Saturday. Willis led the Falcons with 21 points while Crawford also scored in double figures with 17 and also grabbed eight rebounds. NDC shot 41 percent from the field, they shot at a 32 percent clip (8-25) from the 3-point line and 67 percent (10-15) at the free throw line.

As a team NDC is averaging 79.1 points per game which is seventh in the MEC. Defensively they are fourth in the conference scoring 77.9 points per game. They shoot an MEC fifth best 46 percent from the field, they shoot 38 percent clip from the 3-point line which leads the MEC in the category. They shoot at a 72 percent clip from the free throw line which is sixth in the conference. The Falcons are being out rebounded by 2.1 (34.3-36.4) boards per contest which is seventh in the MEC.

Willis is third in the MEC and 18th in all of Division II leading the squad in points per game at 21.6 points per game. Willis is fifth in all of Division II in total points (388.) He leads the team in assists (three per night,) is tops in the conference making 3.4 3-pointer's per game which is 15th in the nation. He is eighth in total 3-pointer's made per game (61),) The Baltimore native is also second in the MEC and leads the team in 3-point percentage shooting at a 38 percent clip from the 3-point line. Crawford nets 12.3 points per game, and Mike Sampson tallies 10.4 points per night. The Houston native is is also third in the MEC grabbing 8.6 rebounds per game which is third in the MEC and is 18th in the country in total rebounds with 154.


Concord (7-10 5-7 MEC) was paced by 27 points from Matt Weir. Lual Rahama also scored in double digits with 10 in the first contest with NDC . They shot 35 percent from the field, 31 percent (9-29) from the 3-point line, and 47 percent (8-17) from the free throw line in the defeat.

Last time out Concord came away with an 86-82 win over Glenville State. Jevon Laidler led the way with 25 points, Weir added 22 points and 11 rebounds, Cade Fix scored 12, and Amare Smith contributed 11 in the game. They shot 55 percent from the field, 56 percent (14-25,) and 71 percent (10-14) from the free throw line.

Weir paces the Mountain Lions putting up 15.8 points points per game and dishes out a team leading 4.8 assists per contest. Rahama nets 15.1 points per game and leads the team hauling in 6.8 rebounds per night, and Ethan Heller also averages double figures at 11.2 points per night.

As a team the Mountain Lions score 79.7 points per game which is ninth in the MEC, while defensively they give up 83.2 points per night which is also ninth in the conference. The Mountain Lions shoot an MEC 11th best 42 percent from the field and shoot 36 percent from the 3-point line which is sixth in the conference. At the free throw line Concord shoots 68 percent which is good for 10th in the MEC. On the glass the Mountain Lions are ninth in the conference being out rebounded by 2.6 (36.9-39.5) rebounds per night.

Richmond talked about the depth of the MEC:

"There's a ton of balance in this league and many of these games come down to a couple possessions. We expect this game to be no different."
