Falcons Travel To GSC For Road Test.

The Notre Dame College Falcons fresh off a 82-81 upset win over #7 West Liberty last Tuesday will hit the road to take on the Pioneers of Glenville State College at the Waco Center today (Wednesday.) Tip time is set for 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on the Mountain East Digital Network at MEC.TV

NDC (4-0 2-0 MEC) is off to their best start since the 2009-2010 season after the win over West Liberty. The Falcons were led in the game by 21 points from reigning MEC Player Of The Week Tyland Crawford. He was one of five Falcons in double figures in the contest. Crawford was joined by Jaedon Willis (14 points,) Mike Sampson (11 points and 15 rebounds,) Daylin Lee (11 points,) and John Godinez (10 points.) The Falcons shot 50 percent from both the field and the 3-point line in the contest. They also shot at a 71 percent clip (10-14) from the free throw line. The game featured seven ties and 11 lead changes before the final defensive stop that sealed it for NDC.

Coach Mark Richmond talked about the challenge ahead:

" We have been working to gain some respect for a while and the West Lib game is definitely something that we can build off of. I'm excited about going on the road, we have been more mature on the road. We have handled our business. The West Lib game proved that we can play with anyone in this league on any given night, "Richmond explained.

Reigning MEC Player Of The week Tyland Crawford gave his thoughts:

" We have a lot of depth this season which really helps us in the long run, "Crawford said.

NDC comes into the contest Wednesday averaging 86.3 points per game which is second in the MEC, while they allow 82.8 per night. They are shooting a MEC second best 50.4 percent from the floor on the season, 46.5 percent from the 3-point line which leads all of Division II , and 73.3 percent from the free throw line which is good for fifth in the MEC . On the glass the Falcons are narrowly being out rebounded by 0.2 per contest (34.8-35.0.) They are sharing the ball at a high rate averaging 16.5 assists per contest which is third in the conference. The Falcons are nabbing 8.5 steals per game as well as blocking 1.8 shots per contest.


Willis leads the team in scoring pouring in a MEC third best 21.8 points per night, while he is joined by three other players averaging double figures on the year. Crawford is putting up 15.8 per contest, Sampson is getting 12 per game to go along with a team leading 9.5 rebounds per contest, while Godinez is netting 11.5 per game as he is shooting 67 percent (8-12) from the 3-point line for the season. Willis leads the team in assists at 4.3 per night.


Glenville State College (2-2 0-1 MEC) is coming off a 103-96 win over Saint Augustine on Friday night. John Williams paced the Pioneers with a game high 35 points in the contest, Tommy Willmas added 19, Nick Edwards tallied 13, and Luke LeRose netted 11. The Pioneers shot 47 percent from the field and 33 percent (13-39) from the 3-point line. They also shot 67 percent (20-30) from the free throw line. In the conference opener last Tuesday the Pioneers lost to Charleston 81-62.

Glenville scores an MEC fourth best 85.3 points per game, while they allow 86.3. They shoot 48 percent from the field (third in the MEC,) 35 percent from the 3-point line (fourth in the MEC) , and 53 percent at the free throw line. On the boards the Pioneers are -5.7 (31.3-37.0.) They are dishing out 12.8 assists a game as a team. They are stealing the ball 9.5 times per contest and swatting 3.3 shots per night.


Williams leads three GSC players in double figures and is 11th in all of Division II putting up 24.5 points per game, Nick Edwards also is getting 13.8 per contest, while Adrian Scarborough is netting 10.5 points per game. Scarborough leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 per night. He is also tops in offensive rebounds per game (4.25.) Edwards leads the team in assists at 6.2 assists per game. That is good for 15th in the country.
