Falcons Travel To Red Hot Charleston Saturday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons will travel to Charleston (West Va) and face the top team in the conference Saturday at the Wehrle Innovation Center. Charleston comes into the contest with a record of 13-2 and 7-2 in the MEC. NDC is 4-11 and 2-7 in the MEC.

Redshirt senior Drew Scarberry talked about the opponent not mattering much anymore:

"As I have been saying for a while now it is pretty much the same story for us every game. We just need to play harder than the other team for 40 minutes- and- stick together in tough times."Scarberry mentioned.

NDC is coming off a 94-85 loss to West Virginia State at home on Wednesday night. Levi Frankland pumped in a team high 25 points to lead the Falcons- Jordan Burton netted 15- Drew Scarberry tallied 14- and- Dan Lott chipped in 12 in the defeat. NDC shot 56 percent in the contest- 36 percent (9-25) from the 3-point line- and- 75 percent (6-8) from the free throw line. Each team had 31 rebounds on the night. NDC comes into Saturday averaging a MEC sixth best 79.6 points per night on offense- while defensively they are allowing 81.7 points per game which is also good for sixth in the conference. On the glass NDC is getting almost two rebounds more than the opposition (37.3- 35.4.) They have not lost the rebounding battle in the past eight contests. NDC is averaging 14.7 assists per game- while the opponent is dishing out 13.1 assists a night. One area the Falcons need to improve in is turnovers. They are averaging 13.6 turnovers a night as a team.

Frankland leads the team in scoring at 17.5 points per game- he also leads the team- and- the conference in both 3-point percentage (43 percent-) and- minutes played (more than 36 a contest.) Frankland is shooting 53 percent from the field- which is good for ninth in the conference. DeAnthony Owens is netting 15.6 points per game- and- grabbing 6.7 rebounds per contest- while Scarberry is scoring 15 per night. Scarberry has now scored in double figures in eight straight games. Larenz Thurman is scoring 12.1 points per game- while he is dishing out a MEC seventh best 3.7 assists per night. Burton has stepped into the starting lineup and is also averaging in double figures at 10.5 points per game. Burton is averaging 3.2 assists per night as well.

Coach Mark Richmond talked about his teams offense:

"I am not really worried about our teams offense at this point. Especially when we get it in the half court we are in pretty good shape. We move the ball well- and- have been executing pretty well of late."Richmond stated.

Charleston is the hottest team in the MEC having won eight straight. They are a perfect 5-0 at the Wehrle Innovation Center. Last time out they were a 80-64 winner at Urbana on Wednesday night. Seth O'Neal led the way with 27 points- Devon Robinson netted 20- and- Drew Rackley scored 19. Charleston shot 54 percent from the field- and- 61 percent (11-18) from the 3-point line in the victory. They also shot 75 percent (15-20) from the free throw line. The Golden Eagles are scoring a MEC fifth best 83.3 points per game- on the defensive end they are allowing a MEC second best 71.4 points per game. They are second in the conference shooting 39 percent from the 3-point line- while they are third in the league in free throw shooting as they are shooting at a 74 percent clip from the line. The Golden Eagles have dominated the opposition on the glass- as they are out rebounding teams by almost 10 (36.7-26.9) rebounds per night. The Golden Eagles lead the MEC in defensive rebounds. They have also been very good at sharing the ball as they are averaging 16 assists a game as a team. The opposition is just getting 10.9 assists a night. One area the Golden Eagles can clean up is turnovers where they are averaging 14.1 turnovers per game.

Rackley leads the season box score at 15.6 points per game. He is second in the MEC in 3-point percentage (41 percent-) and- his 2.7 3-pointer's made are good for second in the conference as well. Lamont McManus is putting up 14.7 points per game- and- is leading the MEC in field goal percentage shooting at a 67 percent clip. Robinson (Cleveland,OH) is averaging a double-double on the season. He is scoring 13.9 points per night- while he is leading the MEC averaging 10 rebounds per contest. The former John Adams product- and- Tri-C transfer is ninth in the MEC in steals at 1.7 steals per game. O'Neal is averaging 13.5 points per game- while he is dishing out a MEC third best 5.1 assists per night. O'Neal is second in the conference in assist to turnover ratio.
