Hot Shooting Falcons Complete Conference Challenge Sweep.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (2-0) picked up where they left off last night, as they shot 63 percent from the floor, 56 percent from the 3-point line, and 76 percent (25-33) from the free throw line in a 93-86 victory over Seton Hill that completed a two day sweep in the Butler County Chamber of Commerce Conference Challenge.

"I was proud of our effort and enthusiasm tonight. We really buckled down and guarded for a large part of the second half,"Head Coach Mark Richmond stated.

Seton Hill (0-2) just shot 39 percent from the field, and 25 percent from the 3-point line in the second stanza.

After the two teams went back and forth in the early stages of the first half the Falcons would go up 11 (25-14) after a Mike Sampson layup at the 10:54 mark of the opening frame. The Griffins would battle back and get to within two (33-31) at the 5:52 mark of the half before a Jaedon Willis 3-pointer stretched the lead back to five. At halftime the Falcons had a seven point lead (52-45.)

After two free throws by the Griffins it was 62-58 NDC just over four minutes into the second half. After the two teams traded buckets NDC would go on a 7-0 run capped by a pair of DeArius Barker free throws to stretch the advantage to 11 (71-60.) After a Drew Green jumper briefly got the lead back to single digits a 3-pointer by Gbolohan Adio and a Tyland Crawford jumper gave the Falcons a 76-62 lead with 6:28 on the clock. A 6-0 NDC surge capped by a John Godinez jumper made it 82-67 with 3:50 to go. Willis would make two free throws to make it 88-72 with 1:52 to go but the Griffins would not go down without a fight. Seton Hill would get to within five (91-86) with 14 seconds left but two Willis free throws would seal it for NDC.

Richmond gave his post game thoughts:

"Offensively I thought we really took care of the ball and attacked downhill. We weren't perfect this weekend but i'm happy we found ways to win. This group excites me because they are hungry to get better and fix our mistakes."

NDC was paced by Jaedon Willis for the second straight day, as he had a game high 28 points. Crawford added 16, while Godinez, and Sampson each tallied 14. NDC shot 63 percent from the field, 56 percent from the 3-point line (10-18) and 76 percent (25-33) from the free throw line. They had 15 assists and 17 turnovers as well.

The Griffins were led by Drew Green with 18, Samuel Tase had 15, while a trio of players (Michael Joiner, Marek Paola, and Jaylen Stewart scored nine. The Griffins shot 47 percent from the field, 31 percent (9-29) from the 3-point line, and 74 percent (17-23) from the free throw line. They won the rebounding battle 30-27. As a team Seton Hill had 12 assists and 14 turnovers.

NDC will be back in action next Saturday when they open MEC play at Wheeling against the Cardinals. Tip time is set for 4 PM.
