Macer Returns To Lead NDCWBB.

Notre Dame College Women's Basketball has its new leader and it's a familiar one. 2019-20 MEC Coach Of The Year Lauren Macer returns to her alma mater for a second stint with the Falcons. Macer led NDC Women's Basketball from 2017-21. She has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at DI Purdue University Fort Wayne.

"Timing matters and that could not be more true today. I am excited to come home and lead Notre Dame College women's basketball to the standard it has always been and will continue to be, "Macer explained. "I want to thank Vice President of intercollegiate athletics Scott Swain and the entire leadership, along with the current student-athletes, for this opportunity to build something special. I am thankful to return and bring my family along on this new journey."

"I am so excited to welcome Lauren Macer back to our Falcon family, "Swain said. "Through speaking to numerous candidates about our opening, it became apparent that Lauren would be a perfect fit for our program at this time. Lauren led our program to new heights during her previous stint here and I am certain she will bring Falcon women's basketball back to prominence."

Macer went 78-32 in four seasons at NDC. This included qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history only to have the tournament canceled due to COVID-19. In that season which saw Macer win MEC Coach Of The Year NDC set a program record with 26 wins (26-5.) They were 12-1 away from Murphy Gym that season and 10-3 on their home floor. They knocked off Wheeling and Charleston in the MEC Tournament before falling to Glenville State in the Conference Championship Game.

The native of Twinsburg, Ohio and NDC graduate returns to where she played from 2009-2013. Macer ended her career seventh in NDC history in career points (1,088,) first in both free throws made in a season (185) and points averaged in a single season (18.2.) Macer was a graduate assistant under Katie Hine in the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons before taking over as an assistant in the 2016-17 season under Hine.

IPFW improved from one win to 14 with Macer on the staff. Last season the Mastrodons finished 9-11 in the Horizon League.
