NDCWBB Picked Seventh In MEC Preseason Poll.

The Notre Dame College Women's basketball team (NCWBB) is picked seventh in the Mountain East Conference poll that was released on Tuesday. NDC Guard Marina Adachi said what a lot of the Falcons were thinking when the poll came out:

"I think that's very disrespectful that they put us that low, "Adachi mentioned. "We are going to prove them wrong this season. We are all excited and ready to play."

Head Coach Imani Gordon gave her thoughts:

"We are super excited about the group that we have, " Gordon mentioned. "We return our leading scorer in Alana Ellis who can score at all three levels. We return Marina Adachi as well. We have a group of transfers that we are super excited about. We have a great group of girls and we are going to have to prove ourselves."

NDC is coming off a 15-14 record last season which included a 13-9 mark in the MEC. The Falcons were the fifth seed in the MEC tournament and knocked off fourth seeded Concord in March. They would fall in the MEC Semifinals to the eventual national champion Glenville State Pioneers.

Ellis averaged 14.9 points per game last season which was good for 10th in the MEC as she started all 29 games. She was named All-MEC Honorable Mention a season ago.

Also returning are seniors Adachi and Amil Ali-Shakir, along with sophomore Lillee Carslon. Adachi led the team with 40 3-pointer's made and a 32.3 percent from the 3-point line, (77.8 percent from the free throw line,) along with 29 assists and 32 steals.

Ali-Shakir shot 35 percent from the 3-point line, steals (35,) and 29 assists. Carlson was also a key contributor as she was a key cog her freshman season. She played 957 minutes, made 99 free throws, dished out 74 assists, and also had 37 steals. Carlson averaged 11 points per game, making her the second Falcon to average double figures, joining Ellis.
