Updated: Nov 12, 2018

The Notre Dame College Falcons completed a sweep of the Conference Challenge on Saturday with a 73-61 vicotry over the Cal (Pa) Vulcans. With the win the Falcons improved to 2-0 on the season- while the Vulcans fell to 0-2 with the loss.

Halil Parks paced NDC with 26 points on the night- Will Vorhees posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds- Isaiah Sanders netted 13- and- Angelo Cugini just missed a

double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. The Falcons shot 36 percent from the floor in the victory- while they shot 31 percent (11-36) from the 3-point line. The Falcons shot 70 percent (16-23) at the free throw line. They crushed the Vulcans on the boards, out-rebounding Cal (Pa) 53-34. They had 11 assists and 16 turnovers as a team in the victory.

For Cal (Pa) Brent Pegram led the way with 17 points- while Collin MacAdams and Jermaine Hall Jr.netted 11 points each. Kenneth Lee rounded out the double digit scorers with 10. The Vulcans shot 36 percent (21-58) from the floor in the game. They shot 29 percent (6-21) from the 3-point line. The Vulcans shot 68 percent (13-19) at the free throw line. They had 10 assists and 11 turnovers in the game.

NDC Coach Tim Koenig Spoke about how the game started and then what changed it before halftime:

" We did not make shots in the first 10 minutes of the game. That is how we got down double digits. Then in that run in the last part of the first half HP (Halil Parks) made a big and one for us. He hit another big three during that run. Isaiah made three big free throws. That was big to cut it to six by halftime as poorly as we shot the ball. We have to execute better on offense. Everybody crashed today though, we were really good on the boards. We defended really well for 33 out of the 40 minutes tonight." Koenig said.

Parks would hit another 3-pointer to give the Falcons what would be there first lead of the game (42-40.) Then the Vulcans tied the game at 42. After a Cugini old fashioned three-point play the Falcons would take the lead for good at the 12:58 mark and pick up the 73-61 win that completed the sweep for the weekend.

Koenig spoke about the defensive job on Pegram:

" Holding Brent to 17 points tonight, that was huge. Especially with a player as good as him who has the ball in his hands the entire game."

Also Koenig put things into perspective a little bit:

"It is always good to get the win. Our goal every day is to go 1-0, but we have so much room for growth. We have to execute better on offense and we have to take better care of the basketball."

NDC will be back in action for the home opener on Tuesday. Tip time from Murphy Gym is set for 5:30 PM. You can catch all the action on NotreDameFalcons.com
