NDC Heads To East Coast For Battle With Mercy College Saturday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (2-8) head to Dobbs Ferry, NY to take on the Mercy College Mavericks on Saturday. Tip time is set for 2 PM from Victory Hall SC.

Coach Mark Richmond talked about the matchup with Mercy:

"We are looking to gain some positive momentum going into the holiday break, a very welcome break at that. We have some guys who are banged and bruised so it will be good for those guys to get some time off. As has been the case much of this season it will come down to one or two possessions here and there."Richmond stated.

Drew Scarberry talked about his team being ready to go from the jump:

"It is a really long bus ride so we better come ready to play."Scarberry mentioned.

NDC (2-8 1-5 MEC) comes into the contestant off of a tough 101-95 overtime loss to West Virginia Wesleyan. DeAnthony Owens scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds- Scarberry added six triples on his way to 24 points to go along with six rebounds- while Levi Frankland added 21 points- six rebounds- and- five assists in the defeat. NDC shot 47 percent from the field in the game- while they shot 47 percent from the 3-point line- and- 77 percent (13-17) from the free throw line.

Richmond talked about bouncing back after a tough one last Saturday:

"We are looking forward to getting back out there. Obviously the game did not go our way on Saturday- after a big win on Thursday night. We are a team still trying to learn what it takes to win. We have a little more depth and can give some more guys a break since our personnel changed a few games ago. We need to continue to share the ball though- and- can not take nights off. Everybody has to be clicking on all cylinders for this team to get to where we want it to be."

NDC comes into the game scoring 79.8 points a game- while they allow 82.6 on the defensive end. It has been a struggle for the Falcons at the free throw line where they are shooting 68 percent as a team- and- from the 3-point line where they are shooting 33 percent on the year. The Falcons have averaged 15.2 assists a game as a team- while they are being out rebounded by one per contest (36.3-37.3.) As for the turnovers the Falcons have averaged 11.7 as a team- while the opposition has turned it over 12.4 times per contest.

Frankland leads the NDC season box score putting up 18 points per night- while he grabs 5.1 rebounds per contest- and- shoots 45 percent from the 3-point line. The sophomore from Australia is also shooting 51 percent from the field on the year. Owens has been a force on the offensive end since his return putting up 18 points- and- 4.8 rebounds per night. Larenz Thurman puts up 13.3 points per game- to go with 4.5 rebounds- and- four assists per night. The senior from Wilmington, DE was talked about briefly:

"Larenz is a guy who usually does a good job of taking care of the ball especially late in games. Not sure of his status for Saturday though. In the meantime we are going to groom Jordan Burton. He is a freshman so he will make some mistakes but he will continue to help us."

Drew Scarberry is averaging 12.1 points- and- 5.3 rebounds per night.

Mercy (2-9) is a member of the East Coast Conference. They are coming off a 82-74 win over Roberts Wesleyan last time out. Garrett Kirkland led the Mavericks with 20 points in the victory- while Dondre Barnes added 19 to go along with six assists. Nakeem Hamilton netted 14- and- Devyon Cuffey rounded out the double digit scorers with 10. The Mavericks shot 48 percent as a team both from the field and 3-point line in the win. They also shot at a 75 percent clip (11-15) at the free throw line. As a team the Mavericks average 69.4 per night- while defensively they allow 86.4 per contest. They are being out-rebounded by more than three (37..2-40.6 per contest-) and- the opposition is getting nearly six more assists than the Mavericks per night (8.9-14.6.) Individually they are led by one of nation's top rebounders as Bryan Griffin is averaging 19.2 points and 13.1 rebounds per night.

Richmond talked about his impact if he is able to go:

"This team has some very interesting numbers. The kid Griffin has not played in the last two games, I am not sure if it is an injury or not. They have shared the ball a lot better when he has not been out there. Obviously when he is in there he makes a big impact, the guy averages 19 and 13 a game. When he isn't they spread the floor a lot more."

Nakeem Hamilton scores 12.6 per night- and- Matthew Alectus is scoring 11.2 per contest.

Richmond talked about how the Falcons need to play to get this win:

"We need to be the aggressor. We are getting better in multiple ways. We need to continue to make the extra pass- and- defend like we did in the first half against Wesleyan. The biggest thing with this group is we need to trust each other."
