NDC Heads To Washington D.C. For Battle With District of Columbia.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (3-5 2-4 MEC) head to Washington D.C. to take on the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Firebirds (4-5 2-2 ECC) on Saturday afternoon. "On the road against a talented UDC team. These two games (Monday versus Washington Adventist as well) and time will allow us some time to grow together and continue to build chemistry. Our transition defense and rebounding will be major keys against UDC," NDC head coach Mark Richmond explained.

"It's all about playing together and getting shots within the flow of the offense. If we can keep the ball moving and the defense scrambling we will all get higher percetage shots," NDC forward RJ Ogom explained.

NDC is coming off a 75-69 come from behind win at home against West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. Andre Harris led the Falcons with 16 points and six rebounds, Josh Dames knocked down four triples on his way to 14 points in 13 minutes, and Gbolahan Adio scored 12 points to round out the double digit scorers. Devin Haid led the Falcons with a career high nine assists in the contest. On the season NDC is scoring 80.4 points per game which is eighth in the MEC while they allow 84.8 points per night which is ninth in the conference. The Falcons shoot 42.6 pecent from the field which is 10th in the MEC while they hold the opposition to 42.5 percent shooting which is fourth in the MEC on defense. NDC shoots an MEC ninth best 32 percent from the 3-point line while they do a solid job guarding the 3-point line as the opposition shoots an MEC fifth best 36.2 percent from 3-point territory. The Falcons are shooting an MEC 10th best 70.8 percent from the free throw line and are eighth in the conference on the glass where they are being out rebounded by 2.5 (41.1-43.6) rebounds per contest. NDC continues to lead the MEC and is third in the country blocking 5.88 shots per game. Harris and Haid lead the team in scoring as they both put up 12.9 points per game. Harris leads the MEC in rebounding pulling down 8.4 rebounds per night and is in the top five in the MEC shooting at a 48.3 percent clip from the field. The Brush product is also ninth in the MEC blocking 1.1 shots per contest. Haid adds 5.9 rebounds per game to go with his 12.9 points per night. The redshirt sophomore leads the MEC and is third in the country shooting at a 96.4 percent clip from the free throw line. Haid also leads the team in assists (2.6 per game) and blocked shots (1.6 per game which is fourth in the MEC.) Haid also is ninth in the MEC in minutes played playing 30.4 minutes per contest. RJ Ogom scores 12 points per night and is second in the MEC as well as 13th in all of Division II shooting at a 92.3 percent clip from the free throw line. Adio also is in double figures putting up 11.6 points per game and dishes out 2.5 assists per contest.

The Firebirds are coming off a 76-60 win against Mercy last time out. UDC comes into Saturday 4-1 at home on the season. Against Mercy Hartnel Haye led the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead UDC. Micah Campbell added 13, Tevin Curtis tallied 12, and Eric Morgan Jr. chipped in 11. As a team the Firebirds score 72.9 points per game while they are second in the East Coast Conference giving up 75.9 points per night. They lead the ECC holding the opposition to 41.2 percent shooting from the floor while they shoot it at a 41.8 percent clip from the field. From the 3-point line the Firebirds shoot 30 percent but they hold the opposition to 29.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line which also leads the ECC. The Firebirds average 40 rebounds as a team, are second in the conference in blocks per game (4.44) and third in the conference in steals per game (8.56.) They also force the opposition into 17 turnovers per game as well. Morgan leads UDC in scoring at 13 points per game while Haye puts up 11.6 per night to go along with a team leading seven rebounds per contest. Vernon Simmons also averages in double figures at 10 points per night. Campbell leads the team in blocks at 1.6 per game and also grabs 6.3 rebounds per night.Curtis leads the team dishing out 4.3 assists per game.
