NDC Hits The Road to Elkins Saturday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons hits the road on Saturday as they head to Elkins, West Va. to battle the Davis & Elkins College Senators. Tip time is slated for 4 PM at the McDonnell Center. You can catch all the action on the Mountain East Digital Network at MountainEast.TV

NDC head coach Mark Richmond set up the matchup:

"The guys are ready for another tough road test at Davis and Elkins Saturday, "Richmond mentioned. "We will have to take care of the ball on offense and be active on defense."

NDC (12-9 9-6) MEC is coming off a 87-71 win at home over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday. John Godinez led the Falcons with 22 points off the bench in that one, Jaedon Willis added 18, and Daylin Lee tallied 10. NDC shot 54 percent from the field, 48 percent (12-25) from the 3-point line, and 72 percent (13-18) from the free throw line. They also won the rebounding battle 34-28 . NDC is sixth in the MEC scoring 80 points per night while on the defensive end they are fifth in the conference giving up 78.5 per night. The Falcons shoot an MEC fifth best 47 percent from the field, and are third in the conference shooting 37 percent from the 3-point line. They are also fifth in the conference in free throw shooting as they shoot 74 percent from the line. NDC is sixth in the conference on the glass being out-rebounded by 1.7 (34.4-36.1) rebounds per night. Willis leads the team and is pouring in a MEC fourth best 21.2 points per night. The Baltimore native is third in the MEC shooting 39 percent from the 3-point line and also leads the conference making 3.3 triples per game as well as dishing out just over three assists per night which leads the squad. Tyland Crawford is putting up 11.9 points per game to go with 5.9 rebounds per night.He is also ninth in the conference in minutes played at 34 per contest. Mike Sampson also averages in double figures netting 10.8 points per game. The Houston product leads the team and is fifth in the conference grabbing 5.3 rebounds per night. He is also fourth in the league in steals swiping the ball 2,2 times per game and is 10th in the MEC playing 33.9 minutes per night. In the first meeting with D& E (NDC won 85-81 on 12.8) Sampson led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Willis netted 12, while both Godinez and Crawford tallied 10. NDC shot 49 percent from the field, 36 percent (6-19) from the 3-point line, and 65 percent (15-23) from the free throw line. They also won the rebounding battle 36-34.


The Senators (6-15 4-11 MEC) have lost five straight. Last time out they los 83-70 to Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday. Sam Rolle paced D&E with 22, Cortney Walton added 13, and Charleston Ponds added 12. The Senators shot 44 percent from the field, 33 percent (5-15) from the 3-point line, and 52 percent (11-21) from the free throw line. As a team the Senators are 10th in the conference in both offense (78.0 points per game) and on defense (83.9 pig allowed.) They shoot an MEC seventh best 46 percent from the field, an MEC 11th best 31 percent from the 3-point line and are ninth in the conference shooting 67 percent from the free throw line. Rolle leads the team and is second in the MEC putting up 22.1 points per game. He is also third in the MEC in minutes played (35.6 per night) and is third in the MEC dishing out 5.1 assists per contest. Rolle is ninth in the MEC getting 1.7 steals per game as well.Walton is second in the MEC and leads the Senators grabbing 9.4 rebounds per game to go with his 16.4 points per game. Evan Busby also averages in double figures getting 12.4 points per game. In the first meeting with NDC back in December Rolle netted 25, Busby added 22, and Walton tallied 14 to go along with 12 rebounds. The Senators shot 48 percent from the field, 46 percent (11-24) from the 3-point line and 64 percent (14-22) at the free throw line.

Richmond gave his final thought:

"Sam Rolle is one of the best scorers in our league and this will be a tough challenge for our team on the road. Like i've been saying all season the next step in our program is to win tough games on the road."
