NDC Hosts D'Youville To Close The Calendar Year.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (5-5 2-4 MEC) will hit the hardwood for the first team in nearly two weeks when they host the D'Youville University Saints (5-7 2-1 ECC) at Murphy Gym on Saturday afternoon. You can catch all the action on MountainEast.TV for the 3 PM tipoff.

"Final Non-conference game of 2023 at home against a D'Youville team that has won four out of five games," NDC head coach Mark Richmond stated. "They have a very balanced attack with several guys that can really score the ball. We'll have to do a great job defensively and then close out each possession with a rebound. Offensively we will have to continue to take care of the ball and shoot great shots," he said.

"Almost like a fresh start for us coming off break. Our keys to winning are moving the ball as well as taking care of it," NDC junior guard Gbolahan Adio mentioned.

NDC went to Washington D.C. and got a sweep of the University of District of Columbia and Washington Adventist University. The Falcons were a 100-89 winner over Washington Adventist last time out on 12/18. Senior Davin Zeigler led six NDC players in double figures with 16 points. Senior Trent Williams added 15, Redshirt sophomore Devin Haid and Redshirt junior RJ Ogom each had 13, freshman Cameron Johnson added 12, and Adio netted 11. NDC scores 83.1 points per game which is good for fourth in the MEC while defensively they give up 83.4 per night which is seventh in the conference. The Falcons shoot 44.6 percent from the field which is fifth in the MEC as the opposition shoots 42.3 percent which makes them fourth on the defensive end. The Falcons have improved of late from the 3-point line as they now shoot an MEC seventh best 34.5 percent from the 3-point line. The opposition shoots 35.5 percent which makes them eighth in that category. On the glass NDC is seventh being out rebounded by 0.9 (40-4-41.3) rebounds per night. The Falcons are second in the MEC and seventh in the country blocking 5.4 shots per night. Haid leads NDC in scoring at 12.8 points per game. He shoots an MEC best as well as fifth in the country 93.9 percent from the foul line. He also steals the ball 1.4 times per game which is tied for ninth in the MEC as well as being ninth in the MEC in assists at 2.7 per night. The redshirt sophomore is third in the MEC swatting 1.3 shots per game as well. Ogom scores 12.5 points per game. The redshirt junior is second in the MEC and seventh in all of Division II shooting 93.2 percent from the free throw line. Redshirt junior Andre Harris puts up 12 points per game, grabs an MEC second best 7.7 rebounds per game. He joins his teammate Haid getting 1.4 steals per game and blocks an MEC sixth best 1.2 shots per night. Adio puts up 11.8 points per game and Zeigler has scored 10 points per night and dished out nearly five assists per game in four games this season. '


The Saints (5-7 2-1 ECC) are coming off a 94-74 win over Felician last time out. Bryson Birdsong led the way with 28 points, Traylon Trice added 18, Chase Jenkins had 17 to go with nine rebounds, while Nasir Hammonds added 14. DU scores 72.9 points per game while they give up 75.8 per contest. They shoot 40.9 percent as a team while the opposition shoots 45.5 percent against them. From the 3-point line they shoot 34.1 percent while they give up a 32.5 percent 3-point percentage. The Saints shoot 66.3 percent from the free throw line and get out rebounded by 0.1 (37.4-37.5) boards per contest. Jenkins leads the team in scoring at 14.3 per game, he shoots 50.4 percent from the field, and grabs 4.7 rebounds per night. Trice gets 11.6 per game, leads the team in rebounding at 6.3 per game, and shoots 49 percent from the field. Noah Hutchins leads the team in assists at 4.7 per night.
