NDC Makes Final Trip To Wise Monday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons will battle the University of Virginia's College at Wise Monday night. The game is slated to tip at 7:30 PM from the Prior Center. The meeting will be the last trip for NDC to Wise as the Cavaliers will be leaving the MEC to join the Southern Athletic Conference next season. As always you can catch all the action on NotreDameFalcons.com

NDC (3-1 1-0 MEC) comes in off a 80-69 win at Concord on Saturday. Will Vorhees led NDC with 28 points and 10 rebounds in that game, his fourth straight double-double. Larenz Thurman returned after missing the first three games of the season and put up 21 points in his first official game in a Falcons uniform. Isaiah Sanders added 15 points and Halil Parks scored 11 in the victory. NDC dominated the second half, out scoring the Mountain Lions 43-25. The story of the game was on the defensive end though, as Concord shot 21 percent from the field and 1-12 from the 3-point line in the second half.

Vorhees is leading the Falcons averaging 23.3 points and 11.3 rebounds a night. Thurman scored 21 in the game that he played- while Isaiah Sanders and Halil Parks are scoring 14.5 and 13.5 points a game respectively.

The Falcons are averaging 74.3 points a game- while giving up 72 points per contest. They have a 3.5 rebound advantage per game (41-37.5.)

Coach Tim Koenig talked about the task at hand:

" It is very hard to play on the road in this league. Seals is one of the best players in the league, he averages 22.8 points and 7+ assists a game for a reason. We need to defend the ball, defend the pain and move bodies. It is the same goal whoever we play but we tweak the approach based on who we play. There is a reason these guys are 3-1 and we look forward to the challenge They have really athletic role players as well.

Vorhees talked about a few things:

" We need to get off to a better start, that is something we have struggled with this year. For me offensively I draw a lot of attention which means a better shot will be available for someone else on the floor. I have confidence in my teammates to knock down shots and that will not change. Our goal is always to go 1-0 on that day and that goal is no different today."

Wise(3-1 1-0 MEC) is coming off a 93-70 thrashing of Urbana on Saturday. The Cavaliers were led by Michal Seals who led four players in double figures with 22 points- Eric Okenchi added 16- as Briggs Parris and Jordan Pointer added 12 points each. Seals leads the Cavaliers putting up 22 points a game- while Parris is scoring 16.3 per contest. Okenchi is scoring 11.8 a night to go along with a team leading 8.8 rebounds per contest. Seals leads the team in assists at 7.8 per game.

Wise is averaging 84 points a game as a team- while giving up 76.3 per night. They are out rebounding the opponent by more than two rebounds per night (42.5 to 40.3.)
