NDC Moves Up In SIDA Region Rankings.

After a 2-0 week that included a first in program history- the Notre Dame College Falcons (16-6 12-4 MEC) moved into a tie with Fairmont State for sixth in the SIDA region rankings. The region rankings are comprised of select sports information directors from the Atlantic region. The NCAA official region rankings will be released on Wednesday and will run thru February 28th.

West Liberty is a top the SIDA region rankings for a second straight week- IUP remains second- while West Chester moves up one spot to the third position. Virginia State falls one spot to fourth- MercyHurst moves up three spots to fifth. NDC- and- Fairmont State are tied for the sixth spot. Shippensburg is now eighth- Slippery Rock- and- East Stroudsburg are tied for ninth place.

NDC routed Shepherd 78-53 on Thursday. Will Vorhees scored 31 points- and-grabbed 20 rebounds in the victory. Larenz Thurman added 13 in the contest. The Falcons shot 46 percent from the field in that game- 39 percent from the 3-point line (11-28.) They shot at a 70 percent clip (7-10) from the free throw line. The story of that game though was the Shepherd trio of Tommy Lang- Derek McKnight- and- Winston Burgess being held to a total of eight points between them. Jon Preston (23 points- and- Devin Smith (11) were the Rams leading scorers in that game.

On Saturday NDC was a 90-84 winner over Fairmont State- which was the first win over the Fighting Falcons in the regular season in program history. Will Vorhees became the all-time leading scorer in the history of the program when he passed former teammate Tyree Gaiter. Vorhees had 34 points and nine rebounds- Thurman added 18 points- eight assists- and- seven rebounds- while Bruce Hodges scored 13 to go along with eight boards. Isaiah Sanders and Hamish Warden each scored 10 points to round out the double digit scorers. The Falcons shot 48 percent as a team- 17 percent (4-23) from the 3-point line- and- 84 percent (16-19) at the free throw line.

NDC will be back in action with a pair of games this week on the road. They will battle Glenville State on Thursday night- before facing West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.
