NDC Opens Home Slate With Edinboro Monday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons will battle the Edinboro Fighting Scots to open the home portion of there schedule Monday evening.

Assistant Coach Duncan Williams set up the match up:

"This is going to be a tough match for us, especially the way that our team is constructed now having a few guys out. We know that we are a little undersized, and that's going to be a recurring theme until we get some guys back who are out. Our team has the right mindset though. We know that a subpar effort won't be enough. We are excited for our first home game though. It is my first home game in this gym, and we have a few guys who it will be there first as well. It should be a good atmosphere tonight."

Head Coach Mark Richmond agreed:

" Obviously it is eight days ago now since we last played. Dropping a heartbreaker to Slippery Rock and we are anxious to get back out there in front of our fans and our home crowd. "

NDC (0-2) was a 78-76 loser to Slippery Rock- and- then lost 82-61 to Millersville the following day. Levi Frankland leads the Falcons box score pouring in 22 points per game- Larenz Thurman is netting 13.0 points per contest- and- Jordan Burton is also averaging double figures at 10.5 points per night. Dae- John Walker Bey is leading the team on the glass grabbing seven rebounds per night. NDC is averaging 68.5 points per night as a team- while they are allowing 80 per contest.

Williams talked a little about last weekend:

"We know what we wanted to do. The problem was last weekend it was difficult to do that two days in a row. We have a lot of new faces- and- I am confident we will figure it out quickly."

Williams continued about something new the team has to deal with:

" We have a target on our back now. Being the defending tournament champs in the league and every coach that we talk to talks about when we beat Cleveland State in exhibition play.

Richmond agreed:

" In this day and age a lot of people have trouble handling success when they are doing well. We have some guys who have taken on bigger roles than expected when the year began. So I am thankful for guys like Levi and Walker-Bey. We knew what we were going to get from guys like Hodges- Larenz- and- Scarberry but I am more than thankful for all these guys being so receptive."

When asked about how his team is adjusting to his system this is what Richmond had to say:

" They are adjusting pretty well. It is a work in progress but I am confident we will figure this out."

Edinboro (2-0) beat Thiel College in there opener before knocking off Roberts Wesleyan 67-65 last time out. Jaryn Simpson led the way with 18 in that one. Trey Staunch put up 16- while Alex Jay and Daylon Harris each tallied 10. The Fighting Scotts are led by Anthony Coleman who puts up 16.5 per night- Staunch is scoring 13.5 per game and leads the team in rebounding at seven per contest. Harris rounds out the double figure scorers at 10.0 per night. Simpson leads the team in assists at 5.5 per game.

Williams talked about some of the Fighting Scotts personnel:

" They have two very dynamic guards that can beat you in a lot of ways. They have a 300 lbs. power forward in Staunch who is super tough. Then they have another kid who is 6-8 230 who can do everything. Obviously we don't matchup well with those big guys, especially with the way we are constructed right now. We just have to minimize the mistakes and we should be in good shape."

Richmond agreed:

"They have two really good guards, as well as good big men that are a really tough matchup for us. We may have to do some trapping and things like that. They prefer the methodical slow down style, so we will try and control the tempo by playing fast.
