NDC Opens New Year With Home Contest Against Bobcats.

The Notre Dame College Falcons open the 2022 portion of the schedule when they host the Frostburg State University Bobcats at Murphy Gym on Wednesday night. Tip time is set for 6 PM. You can catch all the action on MountainEast.TV

Head Coach Mark Richmond talked about the matchup:

"We are excited to get out there and play another tough opponent on Wednesday. They are on a three game win streak and have been playing as well as any team in our league,"Richmond said.

"We are anxious to get back out there after the holiday break. A couple games didn't go our way in Florida but we are excited to be back at home."

NDC (8-4 5-1 MEC) comes into Wednesday tied for first place in the MEC with West Liberty and Charleston. They will play Wednesday for the first time since they dropped a pair of games in the Florida Tech Classic in Melbourne,Fla. on 12/19 and 12/20. They were a 89-82 loser in overtime to the host Panthers before falling 68-63 to the Fighting Knights of Lynn University the following day. The Falcons played eight games in 20 days in the month of December before the holiday break. The last conference game the Falcons played was a 63-61 win over Concord on 12/4.

The Falcons average 79.8 points per game which is good for sixth in the MEC while they allow 78.4 per contest which is also sixth in the conference. They shoot 46 percent from the field which is sixth in the conference and 39 percent from the 3-point line on the season which is second in the MEC. They also shoot at a 73 percent clip from the free throw line which is good for fifth in the MEC. The Falcons have been out rebounded by 3.2 rebounds per contest 33.8-37.0,) which is eighth in the conference and average 16.3 assists a game as a team. They also get 7.6 steals per game as a squad.

Jaedon Willis paces NDC in scoring pouring in a MEC fourth best and 25th in nation scoring 21.2 points per game. He shoots 40 percent from the field, 36 percent from the 3-point line which is fourth best in the MEC, and 79 percent from the free throw line which is 10th in the MEC. Willis continues to lead the MEC making 3.3 3-pointer's per night. He is 25th in 3-pointer's made with 39 in the country. He is 24th in all of Division II with 254 total points. Tyland Crawford puts up 12.8 per game, and Mike Sampson nets 10.6 per contest. Sampson also leads the team in rebounds (8.3 per night) which is fourth in the MEC and assists (3.3 per contest which is 10th in the MEC.) Sampson also leads the team in steals with an MEC sixth best 2.1 per night.


Frostburg State (5-7 3-3 MEC) is riding a three game win streak. Last time out they were a 64-63 winner over the University of District of Columbia. Like the Falcons the Bobcats last conference game was a win over Concord (90-74) on 12/12.

The Bobcats average 78.3 points per game which is eighth in the MEC while they allow 84.6 per contest which sits 11th in the conference. They shoot a MEC eighth best 44 percent as a team, 35 percent from the 3-point line which is fifth in the conference, and 79 percent at the free throw line which is good for fourth in the MEC. The Bobcats are being out rebounded by 4/6 (33.7-38.3 per night) which is 10th in the MEC while they are dishing out 11.5 assists a game as a team. They get 5.6 steals per contest and block 2.6 shots per contest. Canaan Bartley nets 17.2 per night, Age Edwards adds 15.8 per contest, Michael Tate Jr. puts up 13.8 per night, while Jihar Williams scores 11.1 per game.
