NDC Readies For MEC Quarterfinal Matchup With #12 Charleston

The Notre Dame College Falcons (15-13) fresh off a 100-98 overtime win over Wheeling on Wednesday night at WesBanco Arena look to carry that momentum into there MEC Quarterfinal matchup with #12 University of Charleston (24-4 17-3 MEC.) NDC was led by Andre Harris who poured in a career high 30 points in the opening round win, Gbolahan Adio added 20, while Josh Dames and Devin Haid each tallied 16 in the win. NDC shot 54.7 percent from the floor and 45.8 percent (11-24) from the 3-point line in the contest. They shot at a 51 percent clip (19-37) at the free throw line as well. In the first meeting with UC back on 1/13 the Falcons fell by a score of 98-79. Haid and Harris led the way with 17 points each in the contest. NDC shot 45.9 percent from the field, 33.3 percent (8-24) from the 3-point line, and 83.3 percent (15-18) from the free throw line. In the second meeting, also a 19 point loss (86-67) Harris scored 17 and Haid netted 16. NDC shot 36.5 percent from the field, 15.4 percent (4-26) from the 3-point line, and 65.4 percent (17-26) at the free throw line. NDC scores 83.4 points per game, shoots 45.4 percent from the field, 35.1 percent from the 3-point line, 69.8 percent from the free throw line and dish out 14.7 assists per game. The Falcons have a 1.0 assist to turnover ratio and are -1.2 in turnover margin. At the defensive end NDC gives up 82.9 points per game, allows 44.4 percent shooting from the field, 34.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line, and are +1.1 (39.1-38.0) rebounds per contest. They get 7.3 steals per game and block four shots per night. Haid leads the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game, grabs 5.6 rebounds per night, dishes out 2.5 assists per contest, shoots at a 83.5 percent clip from the free throw line. Haid has a 49.7 percent field goal percentage, while adding 38 steals and 25 blocks for the year. Harris nets 13.1 points per night and corrals 7.2 rebounds per contest. The Brush product has 29 steals and 20 blocks on the season. RJ Ogom puts up 11.6 points per game and shoots 81.7 percent at the free throw line. Adio rounds out the double digit scorers at 10.5 points per game and leads the team in assists at 2.6 per night.

#12 Charleston (24-4 17-3 MEC) shared the MEC regular season championship with West Liberty but won the tiebreaker by sweeping the Hilltoppers. UC is also the number three team in the latest Atlantic Region rankings that were released Wednesday (Top eight teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament.) UC is coming off a 83-66 loss to West Virginia State on Saturday. MEC Player of the Year Eddie Colbert had 18, Dwaine Jones added 17, while Keaton Turner tallied 11. UC shot 39.7 percent from the field, 34.8 percent (8-23) from the 3-point line, and 57.1 percent (12-21) from the free throw line. In the first meeting with NDC in January Colbert had 19, Tyler Eberhart scored 17, Obinna Ugwuakazi tallied 15, Jones added 14, while CJ Meredith and Turner chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. In that win UC shot 65.5 percent from the field, 45.8 percent (11-24) from the 3-point line, and 64.7 percent (11-17) at the free throw line. In the second meeting in February DeAirius Barker had 27, Colbert 14, Meredith 13, and Jones added 10. The Golden Eagles shot 45.3 percent from the field, 22.7 percent (5-27) from the 3-point line, and 95.8 percent (23-24) from the free throw line. UC averages 86.1 points per game, shoots 51.6 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from the 3-point line, and 76.9 percent from the free throw line. They also dish out 17.2 assists per game. On the defensive end they give up 71.9 points per game, 43.6 percent from the field, 32.2 percent from the 3-point line, and are +6.1 (36.2-30.1) rebounds per game. They have a +1.4 assist to turnover ratio, -0.6 turnover margin, they get 5.6 steals per game, and block 3.4 shots per night as a team. Colbert leads the team putting up 17.6 points per game and grabs six rebounds per night, Barker gets 13.6 per contest while also tallying 63 assists and 25 steals, Eberhart gets 11.1 per game and Shunta Wilson nets 10.3 points per night.
