NDC Remains Home To Face WVWC Wednesday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons (11-9 8-6 MEC) stay at home for the second straight game to take on the West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats (2-18 1-13 MEC) at Murphy Gym on Wednesday. NDC Head Coach Mark Richmond gave his thoughts on this one:

"We are ready to get back out there again on Wednesday after an emotional win on Saturday, "Richmond explained. "West Virginia Wesleyan will be a good challenge."

As mentioned by Richmond the Falcons were a 104-94 double overtime winner over Glenville State on Saturday. The Falcons broke a few records in that one. Mike Sampson broke the NDC record for steals in a game with eight, while the Falcons also set the Mountain East record for overtime points (33,) and an NDC record by making 37 free throws in a game. Jaedon Willis scored 26 of his 30 points after halftime, Tyland Crawford tallied 15 of his 21 points at the free throw line, and Sampson added 17 points, eight steals (four in the overtimes,) and seven rebounds. DeAirius Barker also scored in double figures in the contest with 11 points to go along with four steals. As a team NDC shot 50 percent from the field, 31 percent (5-16) from the 3-point line, and 86 percent (37-43) from the free throw line. NDC is sixth in the MEC getting 79.7 points per game on the season, while on the defensive end the Falcons are fifth in the MEC giving up 78.9 points per night. On offense the Falcons shoot a league sixth best 46 percent from the field, and are shooting at an MEC second best 37 percent from the 3-point line. The Falcons also shoot 74 percent from the free throw line.

Richmond talked about what he expects on offense:

"Wesleyan will play multiple defenses and try to keep us out of rhythm. We will have to execute and take care of the ball offensively."

On the glass NDC is being out-rebounded by two boards per night (34.5-36.5) which is good for sixth in the MEC. Willis continues to pace the team and is fourth in the MEC putting up 21.4 points per game. The Baltimore native is also 10th in the MEC in minutes played (34.4 minutes per night.) Willis is also shooting at a 38 percent clip from the 3-point line which is good for third in the conference, leads the team in assists (three per night,) is sixth in the conference in free throw percentage (83 percent,) and continues to lead the league in 3-pointer's made per game (3.3 per contest.) Crawford is eight in the MEC in minutes played (34.8 per night,) is netting a team second best 12.4 points per game to go along with six boards per contest. Sampson is ninth in the conference in minutes played (34.5 per game,) is contributing 10.9 points per game and is fourth in the conference grabbing 8.6 rebounds per night. Sampson is fifth in the MEC in offensive rebounds per night (2.30,) and sixth in the league in defensive rebounds per night (6.3 per contest.)

In the last meeting between the two teams NDC was a 71-58 winner on the road on 12/11. Daylin Lee led the way with 23, Crawford added 19, Sampson tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Willis chipped in 10. As a team that night NDC shot 45 percent from the field, 21 percent (5-24) from the 3-point line, and 67 percent (16-24) from the free throw line.

Willis talked about using the momentum from Saturday:

"We played ok against Wesleyan last time, "Willis mentioned. We just need to take advantage of the momentum that we have from the game on Saturday."

The Bobcats are coming off taking a 109-65 thrashing at West Liberty on Sunday. Jayden Hibbitt led WVWC with 21 in that game, while Braeden McGrew added 20. The Bobcats shot 42 percent from the field, 57 percent (8-14) from the 3-point line, and 54 percent (7-13) from the free throw line. The Bobcats are 12th in the MEC on offense scoring 66.5 points per game while defensively they give up an MEC 10th best 83.5 points per night. They shoot 42 percent from the field which is 12th in the MEC, 34 percent from the 3-point line which is eighth in the conference, and shoot at a 67 percent clip from the free throw line which is good for 10th in the MEC. On the glass the Bobcats are 12th in the MEC being out-rebounded by 7.1 (31.2-38.3) rebounds per night.

Hibbitt leads the Bobcats in scoring putting up an MEC sixth best 20 points per game while grabbing 6.2 rebounds per contest. His 35.4 minutes per night are fourth in the conference.

Richmond talked about containing Hibbitt:

"We will have to do a great job containing Hibbitt, he is playing as well as anyone in our conference."

McGrew is second in the MEC in minutes played playing 36.4 minutes per night. He scores 12.2 points per game, and shooting 91 percent from the free throw line. In the first meeting with NDC Hibbitt scored 19 points, while Anthony Craven netted 10.

Richmond gave his final thought:

"Defensively we need to continue to improve and finish possessions with rebounds."
