NDC Returns Home For MEC Clash With GSU.

The Notre Dame College Falcons return home for an MEC clash with the Glenville State University Pioneers on Wednesday night. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM from Murphy Gymnasium in South Euclid. You can catch all the action on MountainEast.TV

"Important early season home conference game that will have an impact on the standings at the end of the year," NDC head coach Mark Richmond explained.

"Gotta protect the home court in a huge conference game tomorrow,"NDC junior guard Kaleb Torrence mentioned. "We gotta stay together, defend, and rebound. Those keys should help us win at the end of the game."

"We need to get multiple defensive stops, limit turnovers and share the ball with each other," NDC junior Josh Dames said.

NDC (2-2 1-1 MEC) was a 109-84 loser to #2 West Liberty last time out.Redshirt sophomore Javontae Jones led the Falcons with a trio of career highs. The Richmond Heights product had career highs in points (20,) rebounds (12,) and blocks (three) in the loss. Redshirt junior RJ Ogom scored 19, Freshman Robbie Cass added 11, while redshirt sophomore Devin Haid added 10. As a team NDC is scoring an MEC sixth best 79.8 points per game while defensively they give up an MEC eighth best 81.5 points per contest. The Falcons shoot 42.1 percent which sits seventh in the MEC while they hold the opposition to an MEC second best 40.3 percent. From the 3-point line the Falcons have struggled. NDC is shooting 29.9 percent which is 10th in the MEC but they are holding the opposition to an MEC fourth best 31.6 percent from the 3-point line. The Falcons lead the MEC shooting at an 80 percent clip from the free throw line. NDC is third on the glass where they out rebound the opposition by 3.8 (44.3-40.5) rebounds per contest. Ogom leads the Falcons in scoring and is third in the MEC putting up 17 points per game. The product of Chicago is grabbing an MEC eighth best 6.3 rebounds per contest. He also is shooting 96 percent at the free throw line which is good for second in the conference behind several players who have not missed yet this season. Ogom leads the MEC in field goal percentage as well shooting at a 53.8 percent clip. On the defensive end Ogom is swatting two shots per game which is good for fourth in the MEC. Haid is tied for fifth in the MEC putting up 14.8 points per game. The Wooster product has yet to miss a free throw on the season (16-16) and leads the team with 1.3 steals per contest. Redshirt junior Andre Harris leads the MEC in rebounding grabbing 9.5 boards per night. The Brush product also leads the team and is sixth in the MEC swatting 1.5 shots per game. Cass leads the team in assists dishing out 2.3 per night. Gbolahan Adio is dishing out two assists per game and is averaging 12.8 points per contest. The Richmond Heights product is also eighth in the MEC playing 31 minutes per game.


Glenville State (2-3 1-1 MEC) is coming off a 83-69 non conference win over Malone on Saturday. The Pioneers lost the only other road game they have played this season, 91-83 to Charleston. In the Malone game Remy Lemovou had 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, James Franklin scored 13, Dominq Penn also added 13, Jay Scott tallied 11, while both Devon Collins and Rye Gadd netted 10. The Pioneers are second in the MEC scoring 91.6 points per game but on the defensive end they are at the bottom of the MEC giving up 97.4 points per game. GSU is third in the MEC shooting 45.5 percent from the floor but the opposition is shooting 48.7 percent which makes the Pioneers 10th in that category. The Pioneers are the top 3-point shooting team in the MEC in the early season as they are shooting 39.2 percent from the 3-point line. At the other end they are allowing the opposition to shoot 41.6 percent from three which is 11th in the MEC. GSU is sixth in the MEC shooting at a 73.7 percent clip from the free throw line while they are 10th in rebounding as they are being out rebounded by 8.2 (36.2-44.4) rebounds per contest. Penn leads the Pioneers in scoring at 14.2 points per game. The Columbus native is second in field goal percentage where he is shooting 52 percent in the young campaign. Collins is putting up 12.6 points per game while Jordan "Turbo" Smith nets 12.7 points per night. The Titusville, Florida product is eighth in field goal percentage in the MEC where he shoots 37.7 percent. He also makes 1.8 triples per game which leads the team. Scott puts up 11.8 points per game while the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native leads the team and is fifth in the MEC dishing out 4.8 assists per night. He is also sixth in assist to turnover ration in the MEC. Franklin rounds out the double digit leaders as he scores 10 points per game. Lemovou grabs six rebounds per game which leads the team and is swatting an MEC ninth best 1.2 shots per night.

Richmond gave these thoughts:

"Glenville State is extremely talented and is very well coached. We will have to defend at a high level and play a 40 minute game to protect our home court. I'm excited to see how we respond after getting walloped."

"Important game for us. We need to use this game to get back on track," Adio stated.
