NDC To Battle Fairmont In MEC Semi Saturday Night.

The third seeded Notre Dame College Falcons will battle the second seeded Fairmont State Fighting Falcons in a MEC Semifinal at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Va. Tip time is slated for 8:15 PM. You can catch all the action on MountainEast.Org

NDC Coach Tim Koenig talked about the matchup:

" Fairmont is a really good team. They have really good players. We split with them in the regular season. We have our work cut out for us." Koenig said.

NDC placed five players in double figures on Friday in a 98-77 win over West Virginia State. Will Vorhees led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Isaiah Sanders added 22. Drew Scarberry knocked down four 3-pointer's on his way to 16 points. Bruce Hodges added 15- while Larenz Thurman had 14. NDC averages 87.7 points per game as a team on the offensive end. While they allow 79.3 per game on the defensive end. NDC averages nearly two assists per game more than the opposition (15.7-13.8.) They also out-rebound the opposition by more than five boards per night (39.8-34.5.)

Vorhees paces NDC averaging 28.7 per game as well as 11.3 rebounds per game. Thurman averages 17.8 points to go along with five assists per contest. Sanders is putting up 12.3 per game- while Scarberry nets 10.4 per contest.

Fairmont State advanced with a 81-54 drubbing of Shepherd Friday. Four Fighting Falcons scored in double figures led by Jason Jolly with 19. Vonte Montgomery contributed a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Cole Von Handorf netted 12- and- Kenzie Melko scored 11. Fairmont shot 51 percent from the field- 19 percent (4-21) from the 3-point line- and- 83 percent (15-18) from the free throw line. FSU scores 85.7 per game as a team, while they allow 77.1 per night.

Montgomery leads Fairmont in scoring at 18 per night. He also grabs a team leading nine rebounds per night. Jolly scores 17.6 per game- Andrew Emrick nets 11.2 per game. MelMwtko scores 11.1 per contest- while Von Handorf puts up 10.1 per contest.

The winner of Saturday's semifinal will advance to the championship game at 4 PM on Sunday against the winner of West Liberty and Concord.
