NDC Travels To UC For MEC Test

The Notre Dame College Falcons (6-6 2-5 MEC) head to Charleston, West Virginia to battle the University of Charleston Golden Eagles (9-2 5-1 MEC) in MEC action on Saturday. Tip time is slated for 4 PM from the Werhle Innovation Center. You can catch all the action on MountainEast.TV

"It will be a good challenge for us. We need to take care of the ball and put together two good halves," NDC junior guard Gbolahan Adio said.

NDC is coming off a 73-66 loss to West Virginia State at home on Wednesday. Devin Haid led the Falcons with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Andre Harris tallied 13 to go along with four assists. The Falcons shot 38.2 percent from the field and 18.5 percent (5-27) from the 3-point line in the loss. As a team the Falcons scored 82.3 points per game and allow 82.3 points per contest which are both ninth in the MEC. NDC shoots 45.2 percent from the field which is fifth in the MEC but on the defensive end the opposition shoots 42,3 percent which sits fourth in the MEC. The Falcons shoot 32.7 percent from the 3-point line and the opposition shoots 35.9 percent from three which are both ninth in the MEC. The Falcons shoot 70 percent from the free throw line which is 10th in the MEC and are eighth in the conference being out rebounded by 0.9 (39.9-40.8) boards per game. The Falcons are seventh in the MEC in turnover margin while they lead the MEC and are fourth in the country blocking 5.42 shots per night. NDC is 17th in all of Division II in fast break points at 16.83 as well. Haid leads the team and is in the top of the conference in several categories. The redshirt sophomore from Wooster puts up 14.3 points per game which is tied for 10th in the MEC, dishes out 2.6 assists per game which is ninth in the conference, shoots 46.2 percent from the field (ninth in the MEC,) is second in free throw percentage (92.7 percent,) blocks 1.3 shots per game which is tied for fourth in the MEC and gets 1.7 steals per game which is fifth in the MEC. Harris scores 12.8 points per game and grabs an MEC tied for third best 7.3 rebounds per night. The Brush product shoots 46.9 percent from the field which is seventh in the MEC and blocks 1.2 shots per game which is tied for sixth in the conference. RJ Ogom scores 12.5 points per game and leads the MEC shooting 93.2 percent from the free throw line. Adio rounds out the double figure scorers at 11.5 points per contest.

Charleston comes in off a 94-62 drubbing of Salem on Wednesday. Eddie Colbert scored 20, Keaton Turner and Deairius Barker each had 18 while Dwaine Jones added 15. The Golden Eagles shot 62.1 percent from the field, 50 percent (12-24) from the 3-point line and 66.7 percent (10-15) from the free throw line. UC averages 85.3 points per game which is second in the MEC while they give up 73.6 per night which is also second in the conference. The Golden Eagles shoot 51.6 percent which leads the MEC and are seventh on the defensive end as the opposition shoots 44.9 percent. UC is the top 3-point shooting team in the conference (37.7 percent) and are second at guarding the 3-point line (30.8 percent.) UC also leads the conference shooting at a 77 percent clip from the free throw line. They are third in the MEC on the glass getting 4.8 (35.8-31.0) more rebounds than the opposition. They are also eighth in turnover margin and block an MEC seventh best 3.36 shots per game. Colbert is the leading scorer at 17.4 points per game which is good for third in the MEC. He shoots an MEC second best 53.4 percent, shoots an MEC eighth best 82.1 percent at the free throw line and leads the team grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game. Barker scores 13.6 points per game and dishes out 2.4 assists per contest which leads the team. Barker is third in the MEC in free throw percentage (89.5 percent) and is seventh in the conference in minutes played (30.3 per game.) Tyler Eberhart scores 11.7 points per game while Jones adds 10.5 per night. Jones is second in assists in the conference (5.5 per game) and CJ Meredith puts up 10.2 per contest.
