Seeking A Sweep.

The Notre Dame College Falcons will look to secure a season sweep when they take on the West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats at the Rockefeller Center SaturdayIf afternoon. Tip time is set for 4 PM and you can catch all the action on NotreDameFalcons.com

NDC (17-6 13-4 MEC) comes into the contest on a four game winning streak. The last time out they were a 106-98 winner at Glenville State on Thursday night.

Bruce Hodges talked about the matchup with Wesleyan:

" This is a very big game- and- we have to come out ready to play and not take this team for granted." Hodges said."

Coach Tim Koenig agreed:

" They are a very good team. They are really long and athletic which will present some matchup problems for us. The 3-point line will be really important as well against this team." Koenig stated.

Will Vorhees had 44 points and 15 rebounds- Larenz Thurman scored 25 points and dished out six assists- while Isaiah Sanders added 12. The Falcons shot 58 percent from the field as a team- 28 percent from the 3-point line- and- shot at a 68 percent clip from the free throw line in the win.

In the first meeting with Wesleyan back on 1/12 NDC trailed at halftime- before coming away with a 73-61 win at home. Vorhees scored 22 points and 11 rebounds- Drew Scarberry added 15- and- both Sanders and Thurman tallied 11. NDC shot 49 percent as a team- 38 percent (8-21) from the 3-point line- and- 81 percent (17-21) from the free throw line.

The Falcons come into the game averaging 86.9 points a game on the offensive end- while they give up 78.9 per contest. NDC comes in with a 4.4 rebound advantage (39.8-35.4.) Vorhees leads the season box score averaging 27.3 points- and- 11.5 rebounds per night. The red shirt senior has now scored 30 or more points in five consecutive games. Thurman is second on the team in scoring at 18.9 points per night- while he leads the team with 4.7 assists per night. Sanders is averaging 11.5 points a night.

Sanders talked about the challenges that Wesleyan presents:

" They are a very good team especially with there zone- but if we execute- and- defend then we will come out with the win.

Wesleyan (10-13 7-10 MEC) was a 73-61 loser to the Falcons in the first meeting.Luka Petrovic and Clay Todd each had 13 points to lead the way on January 12th. Dusan Vicentic also scored in double figures with 10. The Bobcats shot 40 percent from the field- 39 percent (15-39) from the 3-point line- and- did not make a trip to the free throw line in the contest.

Last time out the Bobcats beat Urbana 76-70. Todd led the way with 29 points- Fred Brondstedt added 13- and- Vicentic netted 12. They shot 54 percent as a team- 33 percent (5-15) from the 3-point line- and- 76 percent (19-25) from the free throw line. They edged Urbana on the boards 32-30. The Bobcats are averaging 71 points a game on the offensive end- while they give up 72.8 perwa contest.

Individually the Bobcats are led by Vicentic with 15.1 points per night- Todd is next averaging 13.9 per night- while Brondstedt (11.6 points per game-) and- Petrovic (10.0 points per game) also average in double figures.

" We need to bounce back and be much better on defense than we were against Glenville State. We look forward to the opportunity- and- are ready to get out there Saturday." Koenig explained.
