Vorhees Named MEC Player Of The Year. Thurman First Team. Koenig Wins Coach Of The Year.

The Mountain East Conference announced the post-season awards Tuesday afternoon. Notre Dame College red-shirt senior forward Will Vorhees was named the conference Player Of The Year. Vorhees averages 28.9 points- 11.3 rebounds- and- 1.4 blocks a game on the season. The Lima native is a three time All-MEC Selection. He scored 20+ points 23 times on the season. He also recorded 20 double-doubles this season. Without Vorhees due to an injury last season the Falcons went 6-22 and missed the MEC tournament. With Vorhees back in the fold this season the Falcons had the first 20-win regular season in school history. Joining Vorhees on the All-Conference team is teammate Larenz Thurman. Thurman, the Juco transfer from Tri-C and Wilmington, DE native is averaging 17.8 points per game on the season. Thurman is second in the conference in assists at five per game. He has been lethal from the 3-point line where he shoots 46 percent on the year. Thurman also is sixth in the MEC in assists to turnover-ratio. His 81 percent clip from the free throw line is good for 12th in the MEC.

Coach Tim Koenig was named the MEC Coach Of The Year. Koenig is in his sixth season at the helm. His team has made one of the greatest turn-arounds in NCAA history. They are 14 games better than a season ago.
