Vorhees Named Region Player Of The Year- Bevo Francis Award Top 25.

The awards continue to pile up for Will Vorhees of the Notre Dame College Falcons. On Friday the D2 CCA (Division 2 Conference Commisoner' s Association) announced that Vorhees was named the 2018-19 Atlantic Region Player Of The Year. He was also on the All-Atlantic Region First Team.

Vorhees is the first player in NDC history be named Region Player Of The Year. This is the second time he was named All-Region First Team. Tyree Gaiter is the only other NDC player who was named First-Team All-Region in the history of the program.

Vorhees wins these awards after being named the MEC Player Of The Year this season. For the first time in NDC history they won 20 regular season games. He made the All-Tournament team along with Larenz Thurman and Bruce Hodges in Wheeling, West Va.last weekend. NDC won the tournament title after knocking off fifth ranked West Liberty on Championship Sunday. It was the first MEC Championship for the Falcons. Vorhees averaged 23 points- and- 11.3 rebounds per game in the tournament last weekend.

The red-shirt senior from Lima is third in NCAA Division 2 averaging 28.3 points per game. He is second with 22 double-doubles on the season. Vorhees is first in field goals made with 327- and- seventh in Division 2 averaging 11.3 rebounds per contest. Vorhees became the first NDC player and player in MEC history to amass 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds on the season. He became the school's all-time leading scorer as he now has 2,717 points in his career. Vorhees scored 40 points or more three times this season- including 13 contest's where he scored 30 points or more.

Small College basketball announced their latest watch list of 25 players in the hunt for the Bevo Francis Award and Vorhees was one of the players on the list.

The Bevo Francis Awards list is in it's fourth year of existence. The award is presented to the player who has had the best overall season within Division 2- Division 3- Division 1- USCAA- and NCAA according to Small College Basketball. The criteria for this award is season statistics- individual achievements- awards- personal character- and- team achievements based on student- athletes. The last NDC player to get this far in the Bevo Francis process was when Gaiter was a finalist in the 2015-16 season. The finalists will be named April 6th with the winner announced two days later.

NDC will face Virginia State tomorrow at noon in the NCAA Division 2 tournament hosted by IUP. Tip time is slated for noon.
