Wheeling Comes To South Euclid To Open Home Slate Sunday.

For the first time in 10 months the Notre Dame College Falcons will play a basketball game inside Murphy Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. Tip time is set for 4 PM, and you can catch all the action on NotreDameFalcons.com and MEC.TV

NDC (0-1) is coming off a 98-77 loss at #8 West Liberty to open the campaign on Thursday night. Jordan Burton scored a career high 24 points- and- Jordan Roland added 17. The Falcons shot 50 percent from the field- 47 percent (9-19) from the 3-point line- and- 75 percent (12-16) at the free throw line. They had four assists- and- 18 turnovers in the loss.

Coach Mark Richmond talked about what he expects on Sunday:

" We are excited to be at home on Sunday. We are focused, and are glad we were able to get a bunch of guys in their first collegiate games, and get there feet wet against West Liberty. We are starting to get used to playing with each other a little more. After playing against each other for the last four or five months, it took a little while to adjust. The other night some passes were late or guys did not know where their teammate was going to be. Not many teams can apply pressure and do the things that West Liberty does. We played a lot of one on one basketball, and we need to be more together as a unit than we were on Thursday. We had some late clock situations and did a pretty good job in the first half, but West Liberty wore us down like many teams do, Richmond explained.

Wheeling (0-1) is coming off a 85-79 loss to Alderson Broaddus on Thursday night. Jordan Reid led the way with 21 points- Jordan Beale had 17- John Korte added 14- and- Jay Gentry chipped in 13. They shot 43 percent as a team- 50 percent (11-22) from the 3-point line- and- 67 percent (10-15) from the free throw line.

Richmond talked about the challenges that Wheeling presents:

" They are similar to us in a lot of ways. We have new players, and they have a new coach who just coached his first game 48 hours ago. Reid is one of the best players in our league, and they also have solid guards in Jay Gentry and Jarrett Haines. It will be interesting to see what wins out tomorrow."

Richmond also talked about some of the changes that he expects, and trying to figure out the rotation:

" A lot can change this season at the "Drop of a Hat' or the result of a test. Obviously we are trying to win every game, but this is a performance enhanced business. The better you play the more minutes you play. Some guys do really well in practice, but you also have to be able to do it in the game. You have to give max effort also, and if you are giving max effort you will need a break at some point. West Liberty obviously sets the bar pretty high in the MEC, early on we will be learning a lot but we will be ready to go tomorrow."
