Wright State Rolls Past NDC Wednesday.

The Notre Dame College Falcons opened the basketball season with an exhibition game against the defending Horizon League Champion Wright State Raiders at the Nutter Center Wednesday night. The Raiders used a 45-19 outburst in the second half to roll to a 86-51 win over NDC.

Will Vorhees led NDC with 14 points and five rebounds- while Larenz Thurman scored 13 points before leaving the game with an injury. Angelo Cugini led the Falcons on the glass with seven rebounds. The Falcons shot 33 percent as a team and shot just 13 percent (3-24) from the 3-point line. The Falcons shot at a 71 percent clip (10-14) at the free throw line. They had eight assists and committed 18 turnovers in the contest.

The Raiders were led by Billy Wampler, who led three players in double figures with 18 points. Cole Gentry added 13- while Skyelar Potter added 11. The Raiders shot 47 percent as a team, They shot at a 34 percent clip (12-35) from the 3-point line. Wright State shot 75 percent (12-16) from the free throw line. They won the rebounding battle 45-35. WSU had 17 assists and turned the ball over nine times.

The first four minutes were fairly evenly played as the Raiders would lead 9-5 in the early going. The next few minute segment would be more of the same as it would be 14-10 WSU with 11:29 in the opening half. Wright State would then stretch the lead to 10 (29-19) a little more than four minutes later. The Falcons would keep it close the remainder of the opening half and would trail by nine (41-32) at the intermission.

Thurman led NDC with 13 points in the opening stanza- while Vorhees added eight of his own. The Falcons shot 36 percent from the field in the half- while they shot 17 percent (2-12) from the 3-point line. They shot 67 percent (8-12) from the free throw line and out-rebounded the Raiders 22-20 in the opening stanza. NDC had three assists and six turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

The Raiders were led by 13 points from Wampler in the opening stanza. Cole Gentry chipped in eight- and- Skyelar Potter netted seven. The Raiders shot 47 percent in the opening half. They shot 41 percent (7-17) from the 3-point line- and- 67 percent (6-9) from the free throw line. The Raiders had nine assists and three turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

The Raiders would extend the lead to 17 at the first media timeout of the second half. After another Raiders run they would be up by 22 (60-38) with 11:55 to go. After that Wright State would cruise to a 86-51 victory.

The Falcons will open the regular season next Friday in a tournament at Fairmont State. The Falcons will take on Slippery Rock on 11/9. Tip time for that one is set for 6 PM.
